Plot beschrijving:
Diane Lane is na Under the Tuscan Sun en Must Love Dogs terug in een romantische film.
Lane speelt in deze adaptatie van het boek van Nicholas Sparks, Adrienne wiens leven een grote chaos is. Ze trekt zich terug in het gehucht Rodanthe aan de kust van North Carolina.
Wanneer er storm op komst is, verblijft er maar één gast in de herberg: Dr. Paul Flanner, gespeeld door Richard Gere.
Een romance ontstaat wanneer ze door de storm worden ingesloten.
